Port Clinton Schools hall of fame to induct teacher

PORT CLINTON — A retired Port Clinton City Schools teacher is to be inducted by the school boosters organization into the district's academic hall of fame today.

Margaret Phillips is a 1961 graduate of Port Clinton High School who earned a double bachelor of science degree in elementary education and English from Bowling Green State University. She graduated from George Washington University in 1969 with a master of arts degree.

Miss Phillips began teaching in Maryland in 1965 and returned to Port Clinton in 1969. She was an elementary teacher from 1969 to 1977 and began teaching English at the high school in 1977.

She retired in 2000 but continues teaching as a substitute.

Miss Phillips has served on the Port Clinton City Tree Commission and as an Ottawa County Juvenile Court mediator.
