Energy group lauds Owens, Toledoan

Ohio's largest nonprofit group devoted to educating the public about renewable energy will recognize Owens Community College and Toledoan Joe Perlaky at its 10th annual meeting in Columbus on Saturday, which also is to include a presentation from a Fremont businessman.

Owens is one of five community colleges that will share Green Energy Ohio's Clean Energy Community of the Year Award.

Mr. Perlaky, program manager for the Maumee Valley Growers Association at the University of Toledo, is to receive one of GEO's Volunteer of the Year awards. Mr. Perlaky, also a music composer, is the group's vice president.

Tom Kiser, chairman and chief executive officer of Professional Supply Inc., an industrial-energy consulting firm based in Fremont, is one of the event's scheduled speakers.

Green Energy Ohio's annual meeting and dinner are scheduled from 1 to 7:30

p.m. at the Nationwide & Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center at Ohio State University, 2201 Fred Taylor Drive, Columbus.

The meeting portion lasts through 6 p.m. It costs $10 a person. The dinner starts at 6 p.m., and is $50 a ticket. Cost for GEO members is $8 and $40, respectively.
