Though a preliminary tally shows Lake High School as the top vote-getter in a Kohl's Corp. contest that could net the tornado-ravaged school district $500,000, a Kohl's official said Saturday that results are still unofficial and no winners have been named.

Online voting for the $10 million Kohl's Cares for Kids Giveback Contest ended at 11:59 p.m. Friday.

The contest's Facebook.com page showed Lake High School leading with 163,395 votes, followed by Lucas Christian Academy in Lucas, Texas, with 157, 512 votes.

The contest rules state that Kohl's will give up to $500,000 each to the 20 public schools with the most votes.

A company representative Saturday morning urged the community to stay tuned.

“The top 20 vote-getting schools and each school's proposed programs are currently being verified by a third-party partner to ensure school submissions and budgets comply with contest terms and conditions,” Vicki Shamion, Kohl's senior vice president, public relations and community relations, said in a written statement. “Once verified, all winners will be announced.”
