It's official.

Kohl's Department Stores on Thursday morning confirmed that Lake High School is one of 20 winning schools in the country that will share in $10 million from a contest in honor of the 10th anniversary of the Kohl's Cares philanthropic program.

The Menomonee Falls, Wis.-based chain had asked parents, teachers, and school supporters to visit the Kohl's Facebook page to share what their school could do with $500,000 and to cast votes for their favorite schools.

"The Toledo-area community showed a tremendous amount of support and ingenuity by rallying together to help Lake High School win," the company said in a release.

The company said that from the more than 11 million votes cast in total during the contest, Lake High School ranked number one, making it one of the 20 winning schools that will receive $500,000.

Lake High was destroyed by a tornado on June 5, 2010, so the funding will be used toward construction of a new building.
