The Springfield Local Board of Education Wednesday night agreed unanimously to remove a levy from the Feb. 8, 2011, special election ballot, Kristina White, district spokesman, said.
Bob Moellenberg, the outgoing treasurer, recommended the move because the 3.9-mill levy that lost by 54 votes on Nov. 2 won by that number after provisional ballots were counted.
The deadline for placing issues on the special-election ballot arrived before that provisional count was completed.
The levy is projected to raise about $2 million a year.
The meeting was the last for Bob Moellenberg, the district's treasurer for 27 years, who retires Dec. 31.
Ryan Lockwood begins as treasurer Jan. 1.
