Wauseon district acts to get levies on ballot

1/28/2011

WAUSEON -- The Wauseon Board of Education Thursday passed the second of two sets of resolutions necessary to put two levy proposals on the May 3 primary ballot.

One of the two levies is a five-year renewal of an $835,000 emergency tax the school board has collected since 1991. The new rate for that levy is 4.05 mills.

The second is a new, $841,089 emergency tax that the board proposes to collect for eight years. Its rate will be 4.38 mills. One mill equals $1 of tax for every $1,000 of assessed property value.

The new tax has the same rate as one Wauseon school district voters defeated in November. One mill equals $1 of tax for every $1,000 of assessed property value.
