Talk to outline history of Montessori education

A specialist in the neuropsychological assessment of children and adolescents will speak at 7 p.m. Tuesday at West Side Montessori to describe how Maria Montessori, an Italian physician and educator, developed a childhood education movement named after her.

His presentation is titled "Good at Doing Things: Montessori Education and High Order Cognitive Functioning."

Dr. Steven Hughes is an assistant professor of pediatrics and neurology at the University of Minnesota Medical School. One of his areas of research is the neurodevelopmental benefits of classical Montessori education.

The program will be at the school's Bancroft campus, 7115 Bancroft St.
