MONROE --Registration to take spring community education classes with Monroe Public Schools is open.

The school district's 75 offerings, which are mostly available at night, range from classes on computers and medical billing to ballroom dancing and pilates.

Monroe Public Schools Community Education is also introducing classes, including Anime, a class geared to middle school students who want to create their own anime characters.

Others offered include Scherenschnitte, the fine art of German paper cutting, and Wee Fitness, an exercise class for children aged 5 through 10.

There are 24 classes in fitness and recreation and 15 classes are being offered in arts and crafts.

Classes in crochet, quilting, and knitting are among the 10 special programs.

Guitar and piano classes are available for people who are musically inclined and cooking classes in cake decorating and making hand-made artisan bread are being offered.

"We have a number of classes which are geared to the outdoor activities, including tennis lessons, three different golf sessions, and horseback riding," said Alice Malik, Community Education coordinator.

One-night computer classes will be offered on Tuesdays in PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Pubisher for newsletters and brochures, and Microsoft Excel.

A list of the class catalogue is atmonroe.k12.mi.us.
