BGSU chief breaks ankle, cuts visit to China short

BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green State University President Carol Cartwright is cutting short a trip to China because of a broken ankle.

Ms. Cartwright slipped and fell in the lobby of her Beijing hotel Tuesday, breaking her ankle in two places, BGSU spokesman Dave Kielmeyer said. “My understanding is she is doing well, and is in good spirits,” he said.

She is part of a BGSU delegation that left for China a week ago as part of an effort to expand the university’s connections there by signing memoranda of understanding with the University of Political Science and Law in Beijing and nearby Hunan Normal College.
