MONROE — A tuition boost has been approved for students who attend Monroe County Community College, the second consecutive year for an increase.
The school’s board of trustees Monday night approved “billable contact hour” increases from $5 to $9 and raised the registration fee from $25 to $30 beginning in August, when students return to campus for fall semester.
The new fee raises the cost for county students to $77. Students who live in Michigan but outside the county will pay $32, up from $8, and the fee for out-of-state students will go up $9 to $147.
William Bacarella, Jr., William Braunlich, Joseph Bellino, and Michael Meyer voted for the increase; Linda Lauer cast the only no vote. Mary Kay Thayer and Marge Kreps didn’t attend the monthly meeting.
