DETROIT — The Detroit Tigers and the Michigan Education Association have announced a program to promote summer reading.

The Michigan Reads program is open to all K-12 students and begins by registering on the program's website. Once registered, students can qualify for two-for-one Tigers tickets by reading 10 books and documenting their progress online.

All reading must be documented by Aug. 15. The Tigers have set aside games in August and September for Michigan Reads participants.

MEA President Iris Salters says summer reading is important for classroom achievement and is delighted to team up with the Tigers on the program.
