Otsego administrators likely to face wage freeze

7/26/2011

TONTOGANY, Ohio — The Otsego school board Tuesday night is expected to freeze the wages of all administrative staff, including Superintendent Jim Garber, for the next two years.

The wage freeze for the 14 administrators would mirror a two-year freeze recently accepted by teachers and nonteaching staff. In the third year of the union contracts, wages remain frozen although step increases will be granted to eligible employees.

The school board, which meets at 6 p.m. at the junior high library, also plans to discuss the future of the Weston school property.

The former elementary school closed at the end of the 2008-’09 school year as part of a cost-cutting plan. If a new owner cannot be found for the Weston building, Mr. Garber said it likely would be demolished.
