Cincinnati State classes to go on amid faculty strike
9/26/2011CINCINNATI — Students at Cincinnati State Technical&Community College are being told to report for class as usual as faculty members stage the first strike in the school’s history.
The academic vice president at the two-year college says it has made arrangements to cover classes taught by professors who are on strike. That means deans and administrators will help teach some classes to be sure there’s no risk of students failing to complete courses because of the strike.
The union for nearly 200 full-time instructors at the two-year college says the strike began Friday morning.
The school says it has more than 500 adjunct professors and hundreds more staff who are expected to continue working.
Faculty workloads are the major issue in the dispute between instructors and the college’s trustees.
