OAK HARBOR, Ohio — The Benton-Carroll-Salem school board agreed Tuesday night to close Graytown and Carroll elementary schools at the end of this school year — something voters were told would happen if a 3.9-mill operating levy on the Nov. 8 ballot did not pass.
Superintendent Diane Kershaw said the district expects to save up to $800,000 a year by closing the two schools, reconfiguring the grade levels at Oak Harbor’s three remaining schools — R.C. Waters Elementary, the middle school, and high school — and going to a single bus route. The district closed Rocky Ridge Elementary at the end of the last school year to cut costs.
