MONROE — Monroe Public Schools officials believe they have tracked and removed bed bugs recently discovered in an elementary school building.
Robert Vergiels, spokesman for the school district, said insects were found in a locker and classroom at Arborwood South, and three students who are believed to be the possible source have not been allowed to return to school.
The locker and classroom were cleaned and treated by school staff certified in pest management techniques and no pests have been found since Monday, when the pest control team found a bug in the locker, Mr. Vergiels said.
Two classrooms in neighboring Arborwood North were also treated. School officials said classes were not disrupted, and they are working with the health department to develop a return plan for the students.
