Owens Community College is holding a free workshop Sunday at which representatives from several northwest Ohio universities and colleges will meet one on one to answer questions about obtaining federal and state assistance to pay for school.

Representatives are expected from Owens, the University of Toledo, Davis College, and Mercy College of Northwest Ohio, said Owens spokesman Brad Meyer. They will answer individual questions and help people complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, which is required for financial help.

"One of the biggest roadblocks students encounter when exploring their eligibility for financial aid is the financial aid form itself," said Betsy Johnson, Owens dean of student enrollment, in a statement.

"Owens Community College and fellow academic institutions are inviting students and their parents to spend an afternoon going through the application process step by step … "

The workshop is from 2 to 4 p.m. at both Owens campuses.

At the Perrysburg campus, it is to be in the Audio/Visual Classroom Center and at the Findlay campus in the Conference Center.
