TPS Foundation adds 11 scholarships
2/13/2012The Toledo Public Schools Foundation has added 11 scholarships to be awarded during the organization's 12th round of grants this spring.
The new scholarships, which total $12,000, are part of $131,263 the foundation expects to give, according to a statement from the foundation.
One of the new scholarships was established by the Toledo Federation of Teachers and was named for the union and its president, Kevin Dalton. The $1,500 scholarship is a two-to-one match from TFT and will support a TPS senior in pursuing a four-year degree in K-12 public school education.
Toledo Public Schools teachers, students, schools, and organizations are invited to apply for grants. The foundation board's scholarship committee will review applications received by the 1 p.m. March 7 deadline and award the funding in the spring. Applications can be submitted at the foundation's Web site, www.tpsfoundation.org.
