FINDLAY -- Tuition at the University of Findlay is to increase by 2.9 percent next year, and room and board is to rise by 1 percent, the school's trustees have agreed.

Undergraduate tuition is $13,645 a semester, board is $2,273, and double-occupancy rooms are $2,264, according to the university's Web site.

UF President Katherine Fell said the university invests more than half of its tuition dollars in financial aid to students, and the rest covers operating costs.

"We do our utmost to control costs while offering our students the benefits of small classes, faculty mentoring, and hands-on learning, which have long been hallmarks of a Findlay education," she said in a written statement.

Also Friday, trustees granted emeritus status to Frank Cosiano, who is stepping down after 18 years on the board.

The board also welcomed new trustee James C. Koehler II, vice president of real estate development for Country Club Acres Inc. of Findlay.
