Tuition at Owens Community College will rise, starting with the summer semester.

Students will pay $146.03 per credit hour effective May 21, up from $138.89 cents, which is about a 5 percent increase. Owens’ Board of Trustees approved the tuition increase Tuesday by a 7-0 vote.

The increase will cost full-time students an additional $200 a year; the cost for two semester would be about $4,090. John Satkowski, interim president and executive vice president for finance, said at a March finance committee the boost will generate $2.2 million a year and offset the $1.5 million cut in state support. Owens’ general fund budget is $100 million, he said.
