Northwest State alumni to honor 3 graduates

ARCHBOLD, Ohio -- A McClure, Ohio, man who died in a plane crash in 2007 while serving in Iraq is among three Northwest State Community College graduates who are to be recognized by its alumni association Saturday.

Kevin Sonnenberg, Nicole Baden of Maumee, and Julie Leatherman of Defiance are to get 2012 Distinguished Alumni awards prior to Northwest State's commencement.

Lt. Col. Sonnenberg of the 180th Fighter Wing of the Ohio Air National Guard graduated in 1986, earned a bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University, and worked as a pilot with Delta Air Lines.

Ms. Baden, who earned an associate's degree from the college in 1999, went on to receive a bachelor's degree from Kent State University. A licensed architect, she owns Baden Architecture.

Ms. Leatherman earned associate's degrees from Northwest State in 1989 and 2007 and earned her bachelor's degree from Defiance College. A licensed social worker, she works as a dual diagnosis counselor at Recovery Services of Northwest Ohio.
