Lourdes University experienced an increase in enrollment this fall for some of its programs.

New, full-time, traditional-age student enrollment increased 32 percent, compared to the fall of 2011.

Enrollment in the biology program rose 17 percent and in the art program grew 43 percent.

"The growth in this population shows that the new opportunities we are offering students -- from NAIA [National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics] athletics, to student housing, to a first-year experience program, to our vibrant campus ministry area -- are attracting these students and providing what they need in an institution of higher education," Amy Mergen, dean of enrollment, said in a statement.
