BOWLING GREEN -- With 230 curious fourth-graders watching today, Bowling Green Mayor Dick Edwards carefully revealed the contents of a 99-year-old time capsule uncovered during the demolition of the school district's former Central Administration Building.
Among the treasures: a 1913 Bowling Green High School yearbook, coins, a gold stick pin with an emerald stone, and plenty of newspapers from 1913.
"It's marvelous," the mayor exclaimed after finding the yearbook and displaying it on an overhead projector for the crowd at Bowling Green Middle School.
The time capsule was unearthed Aug. 9 by workers with D&R Demolition, which was razing the building on South Grove Street. The yellow brick building opened in 1915 as the city's new high school.
