Library to host programs on health coverage

A state of Michigan specialist will be at the Bedford Branch Library at 2 p.m. Wednesday to explain the effects of the U.S. Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act on seniors’ health-care coverage.

Topics covered will include the basics of selecting and buying medical insurance in Michigan. Registration can be done online at bit.ly/HealthCareBD or by calling 734-847-6747.

The Monroe County Health Department will offer blood pressure and glucose-level checks at the library from 2 to 3 p.m. Nov. 7 as part of its diabetes education program. No registration is required. For more information, call Emily Bien at 734-240-7849.

And at 2 p.m. Nov. 14, health department representatives will return to the library for a program on diabetes prevention and management. To register, call Ms. Bien.
