Teacher of the month: Brooke Schlageter-Graham

Maumee Valley Country Day School

11/6/2012

Brooke is an instructor with boundless energy. She is the only English as a second language teacher, a program she personally started at Maumee Valley. Now in its second year, Brooke is strengthening and revising the ESL Program to make it better and stronger. Approximately 15 percent of the students at Maumee Valley are international students, making the need for a strong ESL Program high - and Brooke delivers.

In addition, Brooke teaches English and is the director of the Global Leadership Program - a special certificate students can earn upon graduation after completing the program’s requirements.

“Brooke is enterprising and driven by mission and purpose,” said Gareth Griffith, Head of Upper School. “She is an excellent advocate for her students and constantly looks for ways to strengthen core programs at school that she oversees.”

Brooke holds a bachelor of arts degree in English from Ohio University and a master’s of science in teaching English from Fordham University in New York.
