Clay High School juniors Samantha Miller and Allison Susor and their biology and environmental science teacher, Dennis Slotnick, were at the Greater Columbus Convention Center this month as part of the Ohio School Boards Association’s Capital Conference and Trade Show, which showcased 100 innovative programs.
Clay’s entry, Renewable Energy on Campus and in the Classroom, highlighted the Oregon district's efforts to develop renewable energy, including the wind turbine behind the high school. It was selected because of its creativity and beneficial impact on student achievement.
The four-day show featured students and staff from statewide and attracted 10,000 school board members, administrators, teachers, students and vendors.
