TEMPERANCE — The Bedford Board of Education will revisit the issue of whether to eliminate one of the district’s two resource officers. Meeting as the committee of the whole Thursday, board members agreed to place the matter on the agenda of next week’s regular meeting for another vote.

The board had been expected to eliminate the position effective Dec. 6 at last month’s regular meeting, but the vote was 3-3, with one member absent. Eliminating the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputy would save the strapped district $80,000 annually.

A private fund-raising effort has fallen well short of the amount needed, and board members agreed that the district lacked the money to pay for the position.

The school board meets Thursday at Monroe Road Elementary School at 7 p.m.
