The Board of Education has approved spending $5,455.94 for a Woodtek heavy-duty shaper for the construction trades program.

The money is from a federal grant to improve career and technical education. The vendor is Woodworker’s Supply Inc. of Graham, N.C.

The board approved paying ProMedica Sports Care for contracted athletic trainer services and $52,000 to Plante and Moran PLLC of Southfield, Mich., for services of Jamie Cowan, district interim chief financial officer.

Meanwhile, the district has received $25,800 from Consumers Energy for participating in an energy-efficiency program. Lighting has been replaced with lamps that use far less energy.
