PORT CLINTON — Port Clinton City Schools’ Jefferson Elementary’s final day will be Friday, opening the way for the transition to the renovated Ba-

taan Memorial Intermediate Elementary on Jan. 4.

Training will be provided to help staff acclimate to the new school, new technology, and new emergency procedures.

To help with the transition, students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will not have school Jan. 2 and 3, school officials said. A community open house is to be from 10 a.m. to noon Jan. 12.

The building was stripped and redesigned to provide an addition for pre-kindergarten through grade 2. The Bataan work is part of a $42 million project paid for in part by the School Facilities Project and from proceeds from a 3.63-mill, 37-year bond issue approved in 2009.
