Monroe County Community College and Eastern Michigan University have signed an agreement that will permit MCCC students who transfer to EMU before earning their associate degree at the Monroe college to do so at EMU.

Many community college students transfer before earning their associate degree, fail to complete their bachelor’s programs, and end up with no credential. Under the agreement, they at least would be able to obtain their associate degree at EMU.

“If a student is not able to complete their bachelor's degree for some reason, obtaining the associate degree credential becomes even more critical,” Patricia Cygnar, director of community college relations at EMU, said in a statement.
