ADA, Ohio — An initiative to create a healthier campus has garnered national recognition for Ohio Northern University.

ONU’s Healthy Campus initiative began in 2011 to offer university employees incentives for good health and wellness activities.

Recent articles about the program include “Employees’ Attitudes Towards Participation in a Work Site-based Health and Wellness Clinic,” published in the Journal of Pharmacy Practice in October, and “Design and Implementation of a Pharmacist-directed Preventive Care Program,” published in September by the American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy.

ONU officials said more than half of its employees have completed lab screenings and follow-up visits with their physicians, and 58 percent have participated in the points system.
