Since Thom Ziems joined the staff at Cardinal Stritch High School, he has been a constant driving excellence in the students in all areas: academics, school spirit, athletics, etc. Students know that Mr. Ziems is a hard but fair teacher. He maintains high standards for his students from completion of work to dress code. He is a top fan and supporter of events at the school, lending his talents as a pep leader, lead teacher, coach, and sound/lighting technician. He is one of the voices of the daily announcements and gives them a great flair.

In addition, Mr. Ziems is a fan, supporter, and energizer for the faculty at Stritch. He constantly lends a hand to those in need, is the first to arrive and the last to leave from many events. He will offer suggestions for instructional improvements, and sits on many committees to improve the overall educational experience of the school. He helps to provide professional development in the areas of Project Lead The Way and other best practices.

At the inception of the STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and Medicine) Program, Mr. Ziems was named the director. In addition to his full time teaching duties, he designed, created, and organized the new program. In the next few years, he will see the program live to his expectations.

"Thom Ziems is the director of our STEMM Program, but more importantly, he cares deeply about and is able to interact with our students on so many different levels," said Tim Malone, Principal. "He teaches and inspires and his students learn and have fun doing it."
