Couple donate $1.1M to University of Findlay

FINDLAY — A former Findlay couple have donated $1.1 million to the University of Findlay, university officials have announced.

Clifford C. Cook, a member of the university’s board of trustees, and his wife, Maureen, made the gift in the form of a charitable lead trust to the Findlay Fund.

The gift will provide $50,000 a year for 22 years to support the university’s financial aid program for students and “to provide extraordinary opportunities for learning and discovery.”

Mr. Cook, a former senior vice president of supply, distribution, and planning at Marathon Ashland Petroleum LLC, joined the UF board in 2002.

President of Blue and Maize Consulting of Bradenton, Fla., he lives with his wife in Ann Arbor.

The gift is unrestricted. “We trust the university,” he said in a statement. “They need to be able to direct funds to where there is the most need. ”
