The expanded health sciences program at Monroe High School will hold an open house for parents of eighth graders at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The program, which includes a registered nurse among its course instructors, will be discussed during the 90-minute open house in classrooms. Teachers and students will be on hand to answer questions. The event is aimed particularly at parents of eighth-graders at Monroe Middle School and local parochial and charter schools.

The health sciences program is designed to prepare students for careers in the health-care industry or for studies in related fields in higher education.

The newest offering is the certified nursing assistant class that gives students the opportunity to take the state exam that leads to certification as a certified nursing assistant.
