Otsego student admits to saying he would bring gun to school

BOWLING GREEN -- A former Otsego High School student admitted in Wood County Juvenile Court today that he told other students he would bring a gun to school and shoot people.

The 17-year-old boy was found delinquent of disorderly conduct by Judge David Woessner, who gave him credit for the 16 days he already spent in the juvenile detention center and ordered him to remain on house arrest until he moves out of the area this weekend.

The boy was placed on probation and ordered to stay off Otsego school property and have no contact with the district.

Judge Woessner also cautioned the youth to watch his temper – and his mouth. One of the comments he made was heard on Dec. 14 -- the same day as the deadly school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn. -- prompting widespread concern among parents in the school district.

“Your words have consequences and that’s the bottom line,” the judge told him.
