Public education’s future to be discussed in Monroe

John Austin, president of the Michigan State Board of Education, will discuss the direction of public education in the state at a dinner and presentation at the Monroe County Intermediate School District on Feb. 6.

The event begins with a 6 p.m. dinner in the personal development center, 1101 S. Raisinville Rd. Dinner will be followed by Mr. Austin’s presentation called Leading the Way: Building the Education for Tomorrow, Today.

Mr. Austin is a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution and director of the Michigan Economic Center at the Prima Civitas Foundation.
