Genoa 5th through 8th graders to get scoliosis exams

Fifth through eighth grade Genoa students will be checked for scoliosis during physical education classes in February and March. Notes will be sent home with the dates of the checks. Therapists with PT Services will assist.

The 10-minute examination is restricted to the child’s back. Parents will receive a letter if there is a concern.

Girls may be more comfortable if they wear a sleeveless shirt or camisole under their other clothes.

The exam is not a substitute for a doctor’s physical.
