Online petition opposes BGSU faculty cuts

An online petition has begun seeking support from people who are opposed to plans to cut 100 full-time faculty at Bowling Green State University.

Faculty Association, the college's unionized teaching staff, is sponsoring the petition campaign on SignOn.org. The petition will be presented to BGSU President Mary Ellen Mazey.

The university said the reductions, which will come from attrition, retirements, and the expiration of some one-year teaching contracts, will save an estimated $5.2 million.
