Clyde-Green Springs will seek new levy

1/30/2013

CLYDE — Clyde-Green Springs Schools board members have approved the placement of a five-year emergency operating levy on the May 7 primary election ballot.

The levy, unanimously approved Monday, would be for 5.25 mills and would raise $1.115 million a year. Voters rejected a similar levy last spring.

The levy this time is for 5.25 mills instead of 4.78 mills, in part because property tax values have dropped. The district projects a $210,000 deficit for fiscal year 2013, and a roughly $635,000 deficit the following fiscal year.
