Lourdes University will unveil the Sylvania university’s ninth president Wednesday during a ceremony.

The new president will succeed Robert Helmer, who resigned last year after 10 years as president to take a similar position at Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio. Under his tenure, Lourdes expanded undergraduate and graduate offerings, added athletics and residential housing, changed its name last year to Lourdes University from Lourdes College, and began an expansion of its physical space.

Since Mr. Helmer’s departure, Provost Janet Robinson has served as interim president for the university. Lourdes has kept the name of its impending president quiet, and will unveil the university’s new leader at 10 a.m. at the school’s Franciscan Center.
