Monroe to hire consultant in superintendent search
3/18/2013The Board of Education will use the Michigan Leadership Institute to help search for a superintendent to replace Randy Monday, who is retiring this summer after 40 years in education.
The consultant just finished a successful search for a superintendent for the Bedford Public Schools and will be paid $7,300.
Board President Robert Yeo said hiring the consultant was prudent given that the Monroe district had not conducted a superintendent’s search in almost 25 years. “It is vitally important for our students, staff, and the community that we as a board select the person who is the best fit for our district.”
Mr. Monday has been superintendent for three years. He succeeded David Taylor, who held the post for almost 20 years before retiring. The search will include candidates from inside and outside the district.
Mr. Yeo stressed that the board wanted to hear from citizens and school staff. Board members’ emails are on the district Web site monroe.k12.mi.us. The search and selections process is expected to take eight to 14 weeks.
