Senator Gardner, panel to talk education funding

State Sen. Randy Gardner (R., Bowling Green) will participate in a panel discussion, Community Conversation on School Funding, at 6:45 p.m. April 11 at Holloway Elementary School, 6611 Pilliod Rd.

Joining the panel will be Ryan Lockwood, treasurer of Springfield Local Schools, and a representative from the Lucas County Auditor’s Office. Topics will include Ohio’s public-education funding formula, Gov. John Kasich’s budget plan, Lucas County’s declining tax base, and the Springfield district’s financial status.

Mr. Gardner has bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Bowling Green State University. Before his election to public office, he was a real-estate agent and high school history and government teacher. He is chairman of the Senate’s finance committee and finance subcommittee on education.
