The state Thursday approved facilities funding for two area school districts.

The Ohio School Facilities Commission announced approval for facilities projects for Northwood Local Schools and Bryan City Schools, part of more than $406 million in state funding approved by the commission.

Bryan was approved for nearly $19 million, while Northwood was approved for about $11.6 million. To receive that funding, the districts must raise local dollars to help pay construction or renovation costs. Bryan's local share would be about $35 million, for total project funding of nearly $54 million. Northwood must contribute about $21.5 million, for total project funding of about $33 million.

The OSFC was created in 1997. Much of the state funding comes from tobacco settlement money.
