Council approved Lindsay Czech for a new position as the director of college advising

Lindsay Czech, a 2003 Perrysburg High School graduate, was approved by the Perrysburg School Board Monday night for a new position as the director of college advising and will be paid $48,999 a year.

Ms. Czech is currently the assistant director of career services at Lourdes University in Sylvania. She went to Bowling Green State University, and then Ohio University for a master’s degree in college student personnel.

Perrysburg Superintendent Tom Hosler said the new position is important because the majority of graduating seniors in the district attend college.

“We wanted someone with experience on the other side,” Mr. Hosler said about Ms. Czech’s college working experience. “Someone who knows what a college is looking for in a student.”

She will start in September. Ms. Czech has previously worked at Ohio University, Denison University, and William & Mary as well as Lourdes.

Mr. Hosler said he hopes Ms. Czech can begin working with high school students and their parents during their freshman year to begin developing a comprehensive approach.

School board member Walt Edinger said he thinks bringing back a panel of recent graduates to tell juniors what is important would be helpful too.

Mr. Edinger said his son at Perrysburg High School didn’t know at the time how important getting AP credits was.
