St. Kateri Catholic Schools is raising the age requirements for students to enroll in kindergarten and prekindergarten, effective for the 2014-15 school year.

To enroll, students will have to be 5 years old by Aug. 1 for kindergarten, 3 years old for the pre-3 program, and 4 years old for the pre-4 program.

The current cutoff is Sept. 30. Kateri spokesman Ryan Hehr said advancing it by two months will improve children’s learning ability and align Kateri’s age requirements with other area schools.

Current pre-3 and pre-4 students will be able to advance to the next level of the education program. Questions should be addressed to Kelly Latz at klatz@katerischools.org or 419-693-0465, Ext. 238.
