Applications are now being accepted for Sylvania Township’s safety program for prekindergarten students.

The program teaches entering kindergartners about such subjects as stranger danger, fire safety, bus safety, and crossing streets. Operated by the township police department, the weeklong program includes expert presentations on safety topics, including a visit by township firefighters.

This year’s class is scheduled from June 16-20, with morning and afternoon sessions starting at 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at Central Trail Elementary School, 4321 Mitchaw Rd.

The fee is $30. Registration is first-come, first-served, and applications may be picked up at the police department, 4420 N. King Road, and will be accepted until June 1. For more information, contact Officer Dan Krajicek, 419-882-7878, Ext. 4.
