Preparations for the closure of Indian Road Elementary School are proceeding smoothly, Rossford Superintendent Dan Creps reported to the board of education last week.

Utopia Construction Inc. of Perrysburg will convert the former industrial arts room in the junior high into two classrooms to help accommodate the district’s sixth graders, who will be transferred there next year. Students in prekindergarten through second grade will be housed in Glenwood Elementary and students in grades three to five in Eagle Point Elementary.

The board decided last year to shutter Indian Hills as a cost-cutting move.

In other business, the board approved $7,500 contracts with Stephen Doughton and Chuck Cox next school year to write curriculum grants, and approved a $33.47-per-hour agreement with the Educational Service Center of Lake Erie West for interpreter services. It also approved paying $2,675 to the National School Boards Association for the period covering July 1, 2014, through June 30, 2015.
