Lima refinery owner seeks expanded capacity

CALGARY Husky Energy Inc., the Canadian oil company that bought Valero Inc. s Lima, Ohio, refinery plans to add refining capacity as it seeks to expand production from Alberta s oil sands.

One practical solution is a joint venture, because the company is less interested in building a plant, said Garry Mihaichuk, vice president of oil sands.

Husky is reviewing options for remodeling and expanding the Lima plant, which has a capacity of 165,000 barrels a day and processes mostly light sweet crude, to take on heavy oil and bitumen.
