Columbia Gas seeks OK to do energy audits

7/3/2008

COLUMBUS Columbia Gas of Ohio has asked state regulators to allow it to perform home energy audits, provide new-home energy assistance, and start a low-cost rebate program.

Its proposal would provide some similar incentives for businesses. The programs, requested of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, would run from 2009 through 2011. They will save customers $100 million and reduce carbon dioxide emissions, the company said.

The utility said it will spend $24.9 million to reduce energy use, at a cost to its customers of less than 50 cents a month, starting in May, 2010.
