Local tours of facilities that use nontraditional energy sources like solar cells and wind generators will originate this morning from three Toledo-area gathering points.
In coordination with Ohio Solar Tour 2008 events across the state, tours will begin at 9 a.m. from:
•The Owens Community College Center for Development and Training in Perrysburg Township.
•The Oregon City Schools wind turbine site at Clay High School, 5721 Seaman Rd.
•The Bowling Green State University Ice Arena, 417 Mercer Rd.
The tours will visit homes and businesses in the area that use wind power, solar energy,
photovoltaic cells, geothermal pumps, and other "green"
sources for power, heating, or cooling.
Each tour is scheduled to conclude at its origin point this afternoon.
Vans with limited seating will be available for tour participants to ride along. Participants also may follow the vans in personal vehicles.
Those unable to start with the tours may join up with them en route by consulting itineraries posted on the greenenergyohio.org Web site.
