Consumers Energy to trim Michigan rates

3/19/2010

Electricity customers of Consumers Energy Co. in Michigan will see electric rates decline slightly after the Michigan Public Service Commission on Thursday approved an adjustment to rates approved last November.

A service commission spokesman said an “oversight” in the November rate decision failed to fully account for disposal of spent nuclear fuel from before 1983, causing a $4 million error.

The average residential customer's monthly bill still will decline by 3 cents, however, a spokesman said.
